The Unique Cultural Center

In Ávila (Spain) are opening a new cultural center Centro Niemeyer constructed under the project of well-known Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.

Oscar Niemeyer Presents...

The spiral staircase begins outside, at ground level, then deduces in premises and further into the attic hall. The unique design is only a part of the future complex, the project is in expectation of the gradual grandiose realization.

Organizers hope that the unusual object will represent itself as a magnet for the best samples of world culture, planning development of talents, knowledge and various niches of creative activity.
Except art showrooms and speech auditorium, in Centro Niemeyer are provided: the cinema hall, rehearsal rooms, conference halls and public zones. The author's plan — the centre opens doors into culture in all its directions, forms, traditions and styles: music, theater, cinema, exhibitions in the open air, live conferences and various educational programs.

Art Bastion of the Madrid Clubbers

The extravagant Night Club «MUSEE» located in Madrid (Spain), is creative symbiosis of gallery of the modern art and the fashionable center of night life of a megacity.

The visual concept of club is concentrated round black colour, glasses and mirrors which are a fine collective background for expressive design furniture, the three-metre light-emitting diode screen, pictures of known modern artists, and also various products of video arts and other objects which are of interest, from the point of view of art and creative style of club atmosphere.

The apartments interior of the night club does not carry constant character. Now institution walls decorate works of German photographer Robert Bartholot, the Madrid pictorialist Paco Peregrin and the illustrator from New York Glenn Hilario.

The visual holiday is accompanied by musical mixes from hot Madrid DJs, and the unique conceptual status gives to an institution the exclusively elite status.

Mecanoo have constructed theatre and the congress centre

The new congress center and the theatre designed by Dutch bureau Mecanoo, reminds the huge UFO which has landed on the Spanish earth.

Llotja de Lleida

On a building facade there is a tape of windows, on a roof the garden with twisted plants is broken. The project is called Llotja de Lleida.

In registration of interiors of theater silhouettes of trees were used. Walls in a building are issued by white plaster, the floor is made of marble or a tree.

Building characteristics: the total area of 37,500 sq.m., theatre on 1000 spectator places, this premise also can function as the congress center, two more congress halls on 400 and 200 places, the multipurpose premise, two foyers, 9,500 sq.m. of a parking, 15,325 more m.sq. — the area of office and 2,591 m.sq. — trading premises.

Sun gifts

If there should be somewhere huge solar towers for electric power generation to happen it should somewhere here — in the south of solar Spain, near to Seville. The commercial thermal solar power station first in Europe — PS 10 — has officially become operational on March, 30th this year. Power of the station erected in Spain, makes 11 megawatt.

№2: PS 20

Hardly later, in April, 2009, Spaniards have erected the second tower, is more powerful than the first twice — PS 20. The principle of work of towers is simple: the field from set of the mirrors tracing movement of the Sun, collects light and directs a sunlight on tower top, heating up a hydrochloric solution which in turn, gives energy to water, transforming water to steam.

Steam runs on pipes and, finally, twists the turbines connected to electric generators. Thanks to presence of the intermediate heat-carrier — salt weight — towers are capable to accumulate “warmly for emergency”.

The world's largest solar power station

In cloudy weather or evening of the turbine are capable to work on the energy kept in the big tanks with hot salt. The capacious storehouse of the fused salt (565 degrees warmed up to temperature on Celsius) can ensure functioning of steam and gas generators within 16 hours after a sunset. So in the summer station generators will not stop neither in the afternoon, nor at night.

Project PS20 has 1,255 mirrors, PS10 — 624 mirrors, the area on 130 sq. m. everyone. PS20 — the world's largest power station, power of 20 megawatt a day, is enough this energy to provide with light, heat and an electricity more than 10,000 houses. Similar towers it is planned to erect also in the southwest USA.
